CHAPTER 18 1/3

“We’re at the hotel, we’re at the hotel” Tom jumped happily around in the tour bus, waking, every sleeping creature in less then 10 metres from him, up.
He hopped to the driver’s cabinet to talk to eddy.
“Eddy, darling,” he blinked furiously with his eyes
“Oh no Tom, no way, its six o’clock, the girl is sleeping”
“But please…”
“NO”
“What’s wrong” Saki stuck his head through the door.
“Tom wants me to drive him towards Jess’ house” Eddy said rolling with his eyes.
Tom stuck his bottom lip out and looked with pleading eyes from Eddy to Saki.
“Tom, it’s six in the morning, we’re all tired. Try to sleep a bit in the hotel. We’ll bring you around an hour of ten”
Tom clearly didn’t like this decision “But…”
“No Tom, we’re all tired and want to sleep.”
“Just, give me the keys.”
“What?” Saki eyes almost popped out of his head.
“Give me the keys of the car. I’ll drive myself”
Saki seemed to think about this, which encouraged Tom to go on, “You can all go to bed and I’ll get what I want. You know I’m going to nag the whole time otherwise. I’m a good driver, you know that. And it’s not that there are any fans going to follow me now. They don’t even know we’re here.”
That last argument seemed to convince Saki. He took the keys from the little black van they used to drive from hotels to concert halls and looked at Tom who had already his hands out to take the keys.
“If anything happens…”
“Notting will happen, I promise!” Tom said.
Saki gave the keys to Tom, still not sure he was making the right decision. He slightly shook his head and mumbled “David would kill me. Simone would kill me too. And Bill would probably kill me in a slow sadistic way” he raised his voice “be careful!”
“I will! Thanks Saki, you’re the best!” for a moment it looked like Tom would hug Saki. But he decided against it and gave him manly handshake.
Then he jumped out of the bus and went to the van.
“What are you going to do?” Bill yelled at his brother. The dread headed teen stuck his head through the window an yelled: “I’m going to Jess. Tell Jill I’ll call her tomorrow to about the appointment.”
Bill shook his head. He knew Tom would get his way one way or another. “Okay, have fun”
Tom only grinned in response, started the car and left.
Bill slowly turned around to look at Saki: “if something happens with him, mom will kill you. David will kill you, and I will kill you in a slow sadistic way. You know that right?”
Saki swallowed and said not so convinced as he’d like to sound “he’s a big boy, he can take care of himself”
Tom, a big boy… Bill just raised his eyebrows.
